Currently, the price of 22-carat gold has crossed Rs 1,20,000 per 10 grams, reflecting sustained buying by consumers preparing for weddings, Dhanteras, and Diwali celebrations. Silver prices are also on the rise, with jewelers reporting increased sales ahead of the festive season.
Market experts attribute the surge to a combination of seasonal demand, inflationary pressures, and global trends in precious metals. “The festive and wedding seasons always witness higher demand for gold and silver. This year, the prices are escalating faster due to strong buying momentum and limited supply,” said a local bullion dealer.
Jewelers across Odisha’s major cities, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Rourkela, reported long queues at stores as buyers look to invest in gold ornaments and silver items in preparation for the upcoming festivals.
