Bhubaneswar: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has constituted a Special Task Force to develop strategies aimed at enhancing agricultural resilience in the face of evolving global geopolitical challenges.
The first meeting of the Task Force was chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education and Director General of ICAR, where a comprehensive framework was outlined to safeguard national food and input security.
The Task Force will work on:

Strengthening food security systems

Ensuring availability of critical agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and feed

Reducing vulnerabilities arising from global supply chain disruptions

Enhancing domestic capacity and self-reliance in agriculture
Strategic Importance
The initiative comes at a time of increasing global uncertainties, including geopolitical tensions, climate risks, and fluctuations in international commodity markets, which can impact agricultural production and supply chains.
Officials emphasized the need for a coordinated, forward-looking approach to protect India’s agricultural sector and ensure stability in food production.
The Task Force is expected to recommend policy measures and actionable strategies to build a resilient agricultural ecosystem, capable of withstanding external shocks while supporting farmers and ensuring national food security.
