Bhubaneswar: Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday said the National Education Policy 2020 will play a transformative role in shaping the future of Odisha and the country by aligning education with modern skills and global demands.
Addressing a national-level workshop in Bhubaneswar, the Governor described education as the cornerstone of long-term development and said the policy is key to achieving the goals of ‘Viksit Odisha’ by 2036 and ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
He highlighted that NEP 2020 promotes a shift from rote learning to a more holistic, multidisciplinary, and skill-based approach. Emphasising emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and digital innovation, he noted that the policy aims to create a future-ready workforce capable of driving economic growth and social progress.
The Governor said Odisha has already taken significant steps toward implementing the policy, including curriculum reforms, the introduction of skill-based learning, and legislative measures to enhance transparency and inclusivity in higher education.
The workshop also featured a roadmap presented by Suryabanshi Suraj, focusing on strengthening NEP implementation across the state through improved institutional mechanisms and coordinated efforts.
Officials at the event stressed that effective execution of the policy at the grassroots level will be crucial in realising its full potential and ensuring inclusive and sustainable development.
