Odisha Considers Reducing Summer Vacation in Educational Institutes to Make Up for Academic Loss

Bhubaneswar:The government of Odisha is considering reducing the period of vacation for the colleges and universities across the state to restore the academic loss caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in the last two years.

Earlier, the state government had announced to shorten summer vacations for schools as well citing similar reasons to recover the academic loss of the students during the Pandemic. According to the decision taken by the School and Mass Education department, the summer vacations in schools will be from June 6 to June 16, by restricting the summer break to only 10 days.

As per the sources, the Department of Higher Education will be deciding to announce this regard after a review meeting on the teaching, examinations and declaration of results etc before announcing the summer vacation for college and university students in the State.

Besides, as per the notification of the State government, there have been morning classes in schools in the State. The notification states, that the morning classes will be done from 6 am to 9 am from May 1 and continue till June 5.
