Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has moved to reassure citizens about the uninterrupted availability of essential fuels, including LPG, petrol, and diesel, amid circulating rumors of shortages. The state’s Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department clarified that there is no cause for concern, as supply chains remain stable and adequately stocked.
In a significant relief measure, the government has made 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders readily accessible to migrant workers and students. These cylinders can now be obtained from authorized distributors upon presentation of valid identity proof, eliminating procedural barriers for transient populations.
To further streamline access, special camps are being organized across various locations for on-the-spot issuance of FTL cylinders. Officials have also intensified enforcement measures against illegal vendors and black marketing practices to ensure fair distribution and pricing.
While domestic LPG supply continues without disruption, authorities noted that commercial LPG distribution is in the process of normalization. A portion of the supply is currently being prioritized for essential services and institutions.
The department has also encouraged consumers to adopt digital booking systems to enhance transparency and efficiency in LPG distribution.
