Bhubaneswar: Odisha has delivered an outstanding performance at the national-level IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26, emerging as the overall champion by securing a total of 57 medals, including 15 golds.
The successful participants were felicitated on Thursday at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida during a special ceremony.
Congratulating the winners, Odisha’s Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain praised Team Odisha’s exceptional achievement. He stated that this success is a matter of pride for the state and reflects the strength of Odisha’s training ecosystem, mentorship framework, and skill development institutions. He added that such accomplishments will further sharpen the capabilities of the youth and prepare them for future leadership roles.
Upon their return to Bhubaneswar on Friday, the members of ‘Team Odisha’ received a grand स्वागत (welcome). Departmental Commissioner-cum-Secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia and CEO of World Skill Center Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra also extended their congratulations to the participants.
The competition, organized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), was conducted across five centers in the country, including offshore venues in Odisha, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, along with a primary onsite venue in Greater Noida.
Recognized as one of India’s largest skill platforms, IndiaSkills provides youth an opportunity to showcase expertise across diverse sectors. This year, over 650 participants from across the country competed in a five-day event that began on March 29, demonstrating skills in more than 50 categories such as construction and building technology, cybersecurity, creative arts and fashion, information and communication technology, and mobile application development.
From Odisha, 90 participants took part in the competition. Out of them, 15 won gold medals, 12 secured silver, and 14 claimed bronze, while 16 participants received Medallions for Excellence.
Top performers from this competition will go on to represent India at the upcoming WorldSkills Competition, scheduled to be held in Shanghai in September.
