Bhubaneswar: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have assured consumers that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in Odisha, stating that fuel supplies across the state remain stable despite temporary disruptions reported in some districts.
According to officials, a sudden spike in fuel demand in border areas during the beginning of May led to short-term shortages at a few retail outlets, resulting in queues and public concern. However, the situation has since been brought under control through rapid logistical intervention.
OMCs said additional fuel tankers were deployed immediately to affected regions, while inventory monitoring was intensified to ensure faster replenishment of stocks at petrol pumps facing higher demand. Authorities confirmed that all retail outlets in the state are currently operational and adequately stocked with petrol and diesel.
Industrial consumers have also been advised to procure fuel directly from oil companies to help maintain balanced retail distribution and avoid pressure on public fuel stations.
Officials cautioned against panic buying, noting that unnecessary bulk purchases could create artificial shortages and disrupt supply chains. Citizens have been urged to rely on official information and avoid misinformation regarding fuel availability.
The companies reiterated that fuel distribution networks in Odisha are functioning normally and that adequate reserves are available to meet consumer demand across the state.
