Bhubaneswar: Congress leader Pawan Khera on Sunday welcomed the relief granted to him by the Supreme Court of India, stating that it reflects the strength of the Constitution framed by B R Ambedkar.
Reacting to the court’s decision to grant anticipatory bail, Khera said that whenever citizens’ rights are violated, especially through alleged misuse of government machinery, the Constitution serves as a safeguard. He added that the court’s intervention has reinforced public faith in constitutional institutions.
Khera also expressed confidence that voters would deliver a decisive mandate against what he termed “oppressive governments.”
At the same time, he raised concerns over the functioning of the Election Commission of India, stating that opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi, have repeatedly questioned its credibility but have not received responses.
The remarks come amid ongoing political debate over institutional accountability and electoral processes.
