West Bengal To Roll Out Ayushman Bharat, Free Bus Travel Scheme For Women From June 1

Bhubaneswar: The West Bengal government is set to introduce two major public welfare initiatives from June 1, including the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the state and a free government bus travel programme for women.

The government stated that all existing welfare schemes for citizens would continue without interruption but would now operate through a more transparent system. Officials also asserted that benefits would be strictly reserved for eligible Indian citizens, adding that no deceased individual, illegal infiltrator or non-Indian person would be allowed to avail the schemes.

Reaffirming the administration’s focus on national security and border management, Suvendu Adhikari said that all land required by the Border Security Force would be provided by the state government.

He further alleged that the previous government had ignored directions issued by the Central Government and the Courts in matters related to illegal infiltration in order to protect infiltrators.
