Odisha Begins Mango Export Season With First Shipment To London

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha’s mango export season has officially commenced with the first international shipment of 3 metric tonnes of Amrapali mangoes from Dhenkanal district to London.

The export was facilitated by the Directorate of Horticulture in collaboration with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), marking another significant step in expanding Odisha’s agricultural presence in global markets.

The initiative received support from Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority and Palladium, helping farmers secure better market access and improved returns. Officials said the export drive has led to nearly a 72 per cent increase in farmer price realisation.

According to officials, the achievement was made possible through export sensitisation workshops and capacity-building programmes conducted for Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs). The programmes focused on export planning, market linkage development, supply chain coordination and post-harvest management practices required to meet international quality standards.

Encouraged by the strong start, stakeholders are targeting more than 500 metric tonnes of mango exports during the current season. Last year, Odisha exported around 120 metric tonnes of mangoes to 11 countries.
