Odisha Government Implements Paid leave Parents Opt for Surrogacy

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has announced a very crucial provision by granting paternity and maternity leave for the employees who opt to become parents through surrogacy. The female employees would get 180 days paid leave whereas the males would be getting 15 days paternity leave within the six months of the child birth.

This leave is also applicable for the surrogate mothers, commissioning mothers and fathers. This notification has been announced by the state finance department on Thursday. This benefit is applicable for those who have less than two surviving children.

There should be a proper valid documents produced for availing this benefit. There has to be a surrogate agreement, medical records from the registered doctors and hospitals to apply for this benefit. This order is an extension of the similar provision existing by the central government in relation to the surrogate mothers and parents.
