PM Modi Hoists Saffron Dhwaja at Ayodhya Ram Temple, Calls It “Rejuvenation of Indian Civilisation”

Bhubaneswar: In a historic and symbolic ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hoisted the Ram Temple Dhwaja, a triangular saffron flag marking the formal completion of the grand temple’s construction.

The event, held nearly a year after the Pran Pratistha of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024, was attended by senior BJP leaders, Union ministers, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and several dignitaries.

“Ram Is Not a Person—Ram Is a Value”: PM Modi

Addressing devotees after the ceremony, the Prime Minister said:

  • Dharma Dhwaja is the rejuvenation of Indian civilisation.

  • “Our scriptures say that offering respect to a temple flag is equivalent to Darshan.”

  • Ram connects with us through emotion, not distinction. Ram is not a person, He is a value.

  • “Today brings a profound moment of pride in our heritage.”

Symbolism of the Saffron Flag

The triangular saffron Dhwaja, raised atop the temple’s main Shikhar, represents:

  • Dignity

  • Unity

  • Cultural continuity — ideals long associated with the concept of Ram Rajya.

For devotees present in Ayodhya, the rising of the flag marked a moment of deep spiritual and cultural celebration.

Devotees Rejoice Across Ayodhya

As the saffron flag ascended, chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echoed through the temple premises. Devotees gathered in thousands, many describing the moment as the final chapter in a centuries-long wait.

A Milestone for the Ram Temple

The hoisting of the Dhwaja is seen as the last ceremonial step confirming the structural completion of the Ram Mandir, which has been under phased construction even after the January consecration.
