Odisha to Observe Odia Pakhya from April 1 to 14

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will celebrate Odia Pakhya for the second consecutive year from April 1 to April 14, coinciding with Odisha Day (Utkal Dibas) and the Odia New Year (Pana Sankranti).

The fortnight-long observance is aimed at promoting the Odia language, literature, culture, and traditions through a series of community-driven and government-supported activities across the state.

Officials said various state government departments will organise events such as special theme-based day observances, blood donation camps, heritage walks and runs, literary programmes, cultural performances, and awareness campaigns during the period.

The initiative seeks to reconnect people, especially the youth, with Odisha’s rich heritage, while also encouraging the everyday use of the Odia language in public life and administration.

By taking the celebrations to the grassroots level, the government aims to give Odia culture greater visibility and promote it on a broader national and global platform, officials added.
