Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that she intends to facilitate the construction of a “Babri Masjid” in the state through her aide Humayun Kabir.
Addressing a public rally in Gangarampur, Shah claimed that such a move would be prevented if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in the state.
Drawing a contrast with the Centre’s record, he highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in fulfilling the long-pending promise of constructing the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya after securing a majority in Parliament.
The remarks come amid intensifying political campaigning in West Bengal, with parties trading sharp allegations ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
There has been no immediate response from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership on the claims.
