Bhubaneswar: Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has initiated prompt action following a complaint filed by a PhD research scholar against a faculty member, stating that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness and in accordance with the law.
Within 24 hours of receiving the complaint, the institute’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) took cognisance and began formal proceedings. Immediate interim relief has been provided to the complainant to ensure her safety, dignity, and continuity in academic work.
The faculty member concerned has been placed on forced leave with immediate effect. The institute has also made necessary arrangements to ensure that the complainant can continue her research without disruption, fear, or pressure.
Given the nature of the allegations, IIT Ropar has informed local police authorities and referred the case for further investigation. The institute stated that the health and well-being of the complainant remain its top priority, with medical assistance and counselling support being extended on campus.
Officials emphasised their commitment to a fair, transparent, and sensitive handling of the case while ensuring a safe academic environment.
