Bhubaneswar To Get Dedicated ‘Gupchup Bazaar’ For Hygienic Street Food Vending

BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to establish a dedicated ‘Gupchup Bazaar’ in the city to streamline street food vending and promote a cleaner, more hygienic environment for both vendors and consumers.

According to officials, the proposed market will be developed in front of the Regional Institute of Education and is expected to initially accommodate around 30 to 40 gupchup vendors.

The project will also introduce specially designed vending trolleys aimed at improving sanitation standards and creating a more organized food vending system in the area.

Officials said the initiative is intended to attract food lovers to a designated street food hub while simultaneously providing improved infrastructure and better business conditions for vendors.

The move is part of the civic body’s broader efforts to regulate roadside food vending and enhance urban public spaces in the capital city.
