Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar is all set to welcome the first Patha Utsav of the season this Sunday, January 4, 2026, transforming select city streets into vibrant, vehicle-free public spaces for citizens to enjoy. The initiative, which has become a popular urban engagement programme in the capital, aims to promote healthy living, environmental awareness, and community bonding.
From early morning hours, designated stretches of roads will be closed to traffic and opened exclusively for pedestrians, cyclists, joggers, and fitness enthusiasts. The event will feature a wide range of activities including yoga sessions, zumba and aerobics, cycling, skating, and walking tracks, encouraging people of all age groups to adopt active lifestyles.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Patha Utsav will also host cultural performances such as music, dance, street art, and live entertainment by local artists. Children-centric activities, games, and interactive zones will ensure family-friendly participation, while awareness stalls on road safety, cleanliness, and sustainable mobility will engage citizens in meaningful conversations.
Civic officials noted that the programme is designed to reimagine urban spaces by prioritising people over vehicles, fostering safer streets, reducing pollution, and strengthening social ties. The initiative aligns with Bhubaneswar’s broader vision of becoming a more inclusive, liveable, and environmentally responsible city.
Residents have been encouraged to step out with friends and family, participate actively, and experience their city in a new way—free from traffic, noise, and congestion—making the first Patha Utsav of 2026 a refreshing start to the year.
