Bhubaneswar: A significant development has emerged in the title controversy surrounding Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor. Mangala Bansode Karavadikar, the eldest daughter of legendary Lavani artiste Vithabai Narayangaonkar, has publicly stated that their family has no objection to the film’s title.
Explaining her position, Mangala said that “Eetha” was an affectionate name by which villagers lovingly addressed her mother during her Tamasha performances. According to her, the title carries cultural and personal significance, making it an appropriate choice for the film.
She also revealed that director Laxman Utekar was informed about the background and meaning of the name while researching Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s life during the film’s development.
Appealing for an end to the public debate, Mangala urged other family members not to issue further statements on the matter. She expressed confidence that the title is suitable and said she believes the film will introduce Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s extraordinary contribution to Lavani and Tamasha traditions to a much wider audience.
The clarification is expected to ease concerns surrounding the film’s title while shifting attention back to its portrayal of one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated folk performers.
