Bhubaneswar: Renovation and beautification works at the Gundicha Temple are progressing rapidly, with the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) aiming to complete all restoration projects before the upcoming Ratha Yatra.

SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee reviewed the ongoing development works at the temple premises along with senior officials on Tuesday. The team inspected various infrastructure upgrades and conservation measures being undertaken to enhance facilities for devotees expected to visit during the annual chariot festival.

According to temple authorities, key sections within the shrine complex, including Tunia Mahal, Ballav Ghar and parts of the Rosha Shala, are being renovated in the traditional Odia Kalinga architectural style. Restoration of the northern gate has already been completed, while work is continuing on Khondalite stone cladding, landscaping and dome renovation near the Nrusingha Temple.

Officials said damaged stones within the temple courtyard are being replaced, while repairs to beams, doors and other structural elements are also underway to strengthen and preserve the heritage structure.

Simultaneously, development work is progressing at Saradhabali, where lakhs of devotees congregate during Rath Yatra. Authorities stated that the Gundicha Temple will be reopened for general devotees after the festival, and a dedicated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been prepared to ensure smooth visitor management and temple operations during the pilgrimage season.
