India Successfully Tests Advanced Agni Missile with MIRV Capability from Odisha

Bhubaneswar: India successfully conducted a test of an advanced Agni missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targeted Re-Entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island on May 8, 2026.

According to officials, the missile was flight-tested with multiple payloads capable of striking different targets simultaneously across a wide geographical area in the Indian Ocean Region.

The successful test demonstrates India’s growing strategic and technological capabilities in long-range missile systems and advanced deterrence technologies. MIRV capability allows a single missile to carry several warheads, each capable of independently targeting separate locations.

The launch marks another significant milestone in India’s defence modernisation and strategic preparedness efforts.
