Bhubaneswar, India: US President Donald J. Trump has announced that interim authorities in Venezuela will transfer between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States. The oil, Trump said, will be sold at market price, with the proceeds to be overseen by the US President to ensure the funds are used “for the benefit of the people of Venezuela and the United States.”
In a social media post, Trump said he has directed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement the plan immediately. The oil is expected to be transported via storage ships and unloaded directly at US ports.
The announcement comes amid continued US sanctions on Venezuela’s energy sector and ongoing geopolitical tensions linked to global oil supply chains. No official response has yet been issued by Venezuelan authorities or international energy watchdogs.
