Bhubaneswar: Devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri can now experience a more comfortable environment during darshan, with the historic Nata Mandap equipped with an air-conditioning facility.
The system, installed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), became fully operational on Monday. The facility is expected to provide relief to devotees, particularly during periods of heavy footfall and hot, humid weather.
The air-conditioning system is likely to be especially beneficial during Bahar Katha Darshan, when large numbers of devotees gather at the Nata Mandap, often resulting in increased heat and humidity.
Temple officials said necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that the new facility does not interfere with temple rituals, the deities or the heritage structure.
The installation has also reportedly been carried out in accordance with Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conservation guidelines, keeping in mind the protection of the historic shrine.
The move has been welcomed by devotees and servitors, who believe the facility will improve the overall darshan experience at the centuries-old Shree Jagannath Temple.
