Health Ministry Releases RBSK 2.0 Guidelines with Expanded Child Healthcare Framework

Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released the updated guidelines for Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) 2.0, introducing a strengthened and more comprehensive approach to child healthcare.

The revised framework expands the existing “4Ds” model—Defects at Birth, Diseases, Deficiencies, and Developmental Delays—while adopting a lifecycle-based strategy that ensures continuous health monitoring and intervention from birth up to 18 years of age.

Officials said the updated guidelines aim to improve early detection, timely treatment, and long-term management of health conditions affecting children. By integrating services across different stages of childhood and adolescence, the programme seeks to enhance overall health outcomes and reduce the burden of preventable diseases.

The move is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen preventive and promotive healthcare systems, with a focus on early intervention and holistic child development.
