
Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released an advisory outline on 9th May regarding the relevant rules for does and don’ts for innumerable internet users in the country amid the situation of extreme tension between India and Pakistan after the Operation Sindoor.
The advisory dictates the internet users to maintain a responsible digital behaviour and be caution towards not instigating any propaganda and fake narratives through their social media posts during this sensitive environment. The advisory was released on the social media ‘X’ handle of the MeitY.
Critical Online Safety Alert always follows cyber security precautions. The users are requested to be cautious and alert for not getting trapped and misled by any misinformation. The MeitY post also mentions, ‘Be patriotic, stay vigilant, stay safe, #DigitalIndia #OperationSindoor’.
The ministry has dictated to follow some important points to be aware of as cybersecurity cautions. The content creators are asked to post or upload only official advisories, helplines and verified relief updates and suggested fact checked news with official sources. The ministry also mentions to report propaganda and fake narratives immediately. It further asked not to mention about the troop movements, forward unverified information at the same time avoid spreading information that has potential to incite violence or communal tensions. The ministry shared the WhatsAap number (8799711259) and email Id ( socialmedia@pib.gov.in) to report on any misinformation shared.
