Bhubaneswar: In a boost to urban power infrastructure, TPCODL has commissioned a new primary substation at Nageswar Tangi in Bhubaneswar under Phase IV of the Odisha Distribution System Strengthening Project.
Built at a cost of ₹19 crore, the substation has a capacity of 2×8 MVA (33/11 kV) and is connected to the Badagada substation through a dedicated underground 33 kV line. It features five 11 kV feeders designed to ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity supply.
The project is expected to directly benefit over 6,500 consumers in areas including Gautam Nagar, Nageswar Tangi, Lewis Road, Gouri Nagar, Rameswarpatna, and Rath Road—localities that have previously faced frequent power disruptions.
In addition, the improved infrastructure will ensure reliable electricity supply to key धार्मिक sites such as the Lingaraj Temple, facilitating smoother daily rituals and better convenience for devotees.
Officials said the new substation will significantly reduce outages, enhance load management, and support rising electricity demand in the Old Town area, marking a key step in strengthening the city’s power distribution network.
