Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet has approved a proposal for Shree Ambica Cotspin Pvt. Ltd. to set up a modern yarn manufacturing unit in Bolangir with an investment of ₹124 crore.
The project is aimed at strengthening the textile value chain in western Odisha, particularly in the KBK region, by enabling the conversion of raw cotton into yarn. This addresses a long-standing gap in downstream processing infrastructure and is expected to support local textile and apparel industries.
The unit is projected to generate direct employment for around 300 people, contributing to livelihoods in the region. It also aligns with the state’s broader objective of promoting balanced regional development by positioning the KBK belt as an emerging textile manufacturing hub.
Officials noted that such investments are crucial for enhancing value addition within the state and reducing dependence on external processing facilities, thereby strengthening Odisha’s overall industrial ecosystem.
