BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has announced a revision in private bus fares across multiple categories following the recent increase in fuel prices and rising operational expenses.
Officials said the fare hike was necessitated due to the surge in diesel prices, which has significantly impacted transportation costs for private bus operators across the state.
Under the revised fare structure, ordinary bus fares have been increased from 88 paise to 90 paise per kilometre, while express bus fares have gone up from 92 paise to 94 paise per kilometre.
Deluxe bus fares have been revised from ₹1.27 to ₹1.31 per kilometre, and AC deluxe bus fares have been increased from ₹1.55 to ₹1.59 per kilometre.
The fare for super deluxe buses has also been revised upward to ₹2.47 per kilometre.
The latest revision is expected to impact both daily commuters and long-distance passengers travelling across various districts of Odisha.
Transport authorities stated that the fare adjustment is aimed at balancing operational sustainability for private bus operators amid increasing fuel and maintenance costs.
