Bhubaneswar: The “Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025”, Odisha’s flagship exhibition celebrating women’s entrepreneurship, has expanded into a truly national event this year. The fair, known for empowering women artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs, is witnessing participation from nine other states — Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Assam.
The event grounds have transformed into a colourful mosaic of art, craft, and innovation, with each stall telling a story of creativity and self-reliance. Visitors are being treated to a mini-India experience, where Odisha’s famed handlooms, silver filigree, and appliqué work stand alongside exquisite products from across the country.
Thousands of visitors throng the venue daily to explore a stunning variety of handcrafted jewellery, textiles, organic products, and traditional home décor. The participation of women-led enterprises from different regions has added a fresh cultural vibrancy and a strong spirit of national unity to the event.
Officials from the Odisha State Women’s Development Department, which organises the mela annually, said this year’s edition aims to promote inter-state collaboration, provide greater market exposure, and celebrate women as changemakers in India’s entrepreneurial landscape.
The Subhadra Shakti Mela, which has become a symbol of women’s empowerment in Odisha, continues to shine as a platform that connects heritage with modern enterprise — and women with opportunity.
