Bhubaneswar: The South East Central Railway has installed water misting systems at several major railway stations to provide relief to passengers during the ongoing heatwave conditions across central India.
The cooling systems spray a fine mist of water across station platforms, helping reduce surrounding temperatures and improve comfort levels for passengers waiting for trains, particularly during peak afternoon hours.
The misting facilities have been introduced at key stations including Bilaspur, Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon and Gondia.
Railway officials said the systems are especially effective at a time when temperatures in several parts of the region have crossed 40 degrees Celsius. The continuous misting helps lower ambient temperatures around platforms and reduces the impact of heat and humidity on passengers.
According to South East Central Railway authorities, the initiative forms part of Indian Railways’ broader summer preparedness measures aimed at improving passenger comfort, safety and overall travel experience during extreme weather conditions.
